Handy tip (to self) before my next holiday

Either,
  • Bring a separate old phone e.g. a Sony Ericsson from my top drawer or
  • Bring a 'pocket wifi'

I have to confess that whilst I am generally averse to Apple products and the iTunes empire, when at home I am a big fan of my iPhone.

Before you jump to conclusions, it's not because I need to 'tweet' or update the status of my life (look how much fun I'm having!!) on Facebook, but because I rely heavily on my iPhone to access information whilst on the move like:
  • Which public transport route should I take on the way home?
  • When is Lady gaga touring?
  • What is the difference between 'adverse' and 'averse'
I digress! Every time I am on holiday, I am always amazed at how amazingly ridiculous my glorified (i)phone is. Because I don't carry the little 'paperclip' gadget PLUS a micro sim cutter (I mean honestly, who does?) around, I find that my iPhone is a heavy version of a phone that can only be used to receive expensive calls or occassionaly read up on irrelevant status updates when I am scabbing internet at a Starbucks!

Alas, I have figured out the solution. If I bring an old phone, I can easily purchase a local sim which I can just as easily swap in and out. Should I choose to bring my iPhone, then I should bring my pocket wifi so that I have wifi enabled at all times and can use all the good apps that I wouldn't otherwise be able to use - What'sApp anyone?

Keep the change xx
